4 Essential Factors to Consider When Choosing and Installing Automatic Gates on Your Property

In recent years, automatic gates have gained popularity and are almost replacing the conventional manual types for a good reason. They are more convenient, flexible and easy to use than their manual counterparts. While they might seem costly, automatic gates are much more affordable in the long run. Since there are many options available on the market, this post discusses four vital factors to consider when choosing and installing automatic gates on your property. Read on to learn more about them below.

The Construction Materials

The first thing you want to consider when choosing and installing automatic gates is their construction material. There are numerous materials to consider, from wood and iron to aluminium and steel. Most modern homes of commercial properties often opt for aluminium electric gates. However, before selecting your preferred material for your automatic gate, consider the price and the expertise needed during installation. Additionally, consider the required fencing around your commercial or residential property and local regulations.

The Access Control System

The security of your property is paramount, and choosing the ideal access control system for your gate is highly essential. For instance, you can opt for a wired or wireless keypad system integrated with an appropriate wireless transmitter with remote control capability. An excellent access control system will grant access to only authorised individuals in or out of your property. Access control might include surveillance cameras, voice and video intercom systems and other high-end security systems.

The Gate Size and Design

Generally, the size and design of your gate are critical factors to consider when selecting and installing automatic gates. Most commercial and residential properties prefer sliding automatic gates to save more space. If you need more privacy for your driveway gate or aiming for a more enclosed design, then choosing a sliding gate would be wise. Additionally, choosing an automatic gate with a more solid surface area helps create a better wind barrier. Avoiding swing gates is recommended if you don't want the stress involved in dealing with wind problems.

Choose Your Gate Installer Wisely

Last but not least, choosing your gate contractor is very important. Your choice depends on a contractor's experience, price and immediate requirements. Inquire about a contractor's experience level installing automatic gates and their portfolio. Additionally, consider their customer service level and how they handle emergencies if a problem arises. Lastly, inquire about their specialisation and the type of materials they work with during automatic gate installation.
